Nationalism is defined as pride in one's country. This is terrible, as it leads to disaster and lack of diversity. Diversity is when a country has a variety of cultures as well as languages and heritage. Thomas Jefferson and Washington both promoted the idea of nationalism. They both thought that a change can do horrible changes, and also convinced most of the U.S in those ages to promote it. As a consequence, nationalism was one cause of the start up of World War 1. In conclusion, nationalism has and still is promoted by many, and can lead to harmful effects.
Nationalsim the people of a certain country or culture taking pride in their heritage or ancestry. 2 people who very influential in nationalism were adolf hitler being a national socialist and napoleon bonaparte leader of the french who led the french in the 1700s and some part of the 1800s. Nationalism usually results in a monocultural society that tends to discriminate against outsiders and minorities. Nationalsim has led to the holocaust between 1939 and 1945 in WW2 germany. Nowadays white nationalism is frowned upon due to its soiled history but still is strong in eastern europe and russia. In short nationalism is patriotism taken to far.
