I was the most famous of the african muslim rulers. i was sundiata's grandnephew. i ruled mali from 1312 to 1332. i was a skilled military leader who exercised royal control over the gold-salt trade and put down every rebellion. i had a 100,000 man army that kept order and protected mali from attack. under my rule, the empire of mali expanded to roughly twice the size of the empire of ghana. i divided the empire into provinces and appointed governors who ruled fairly and efficiently. i was a devout muslim and went on a hajj to mecca from 1324 to 1325.

Mansa Musa, also known as Musa I was the tenth Mansa (Sultan or Emperor) of the Mali Empire in the West Africa. He was Sundiata Keita's (founder of the Mali Empire) grandnephew. During Mansa Musa's reign, he conquered 24 cities and made the Mali Empire as the largest producer of gold in the world.
