Nearly all immigrants in 1600 to Virginia came for economic reasons where material wealth was more interesting than politics, salvation, and freedom.
The Spanish missionaries became the first to land in Virginia while initial colonists considered religion as a fundamental part of life and government. They assumed the Anglican Church would be established. From 1605 to the American revolution the official form of worship in Virginia was determined by the Anglican church. The Anglican leaders in England solved disputes (theological), church vestries and provided social services, i.e., caring o orphans in the colony.
