Greeks seem to value strength over morality and heroic acts over small kindnesses. You can see this in the stories of their gods. Zeus was immoral and made many mistakes, but was still to be considered one to be worshiped.
Greeks would value a hero in glory. Although Odysseus or Ulysses was thought to be dead, he wasn't really congratulated by his suitors, but in the end, he was loved and admired by all. He got his wife back and his castle back, as well as more power. Ulysses was a powerful and well-respected man even though many men had died on his crusade. Today people are well respected and awarded if they risk their lives for others.--> (EXAMPLE) Like firefighters. Today, firefighters are honored as one of the world's many heroes.
