Respuesta :

Less stomata because stomata is the pathway through which water transpires. A cactus' habitat is much drier than normal tropical plants, therefore it would require less transpiration to survive. In order to lessen transpiration, they have less stomata.

It is expected that a cactus plant will have less stomata than a tropical plant because it needs to conserve water.

STOMATA:

  • Stomata is a structure of a plant that controls gaseous exchange in plants. The opening and closing of the stomata brings about the taking in and out of gases like O2 and CO2 in plants.

  • However, when the stomata of a plant opens, water in form of vapor is lost to the atmosphere.

  • Cactus are xerophytic plants i.e. they live in arid regions or deserts where water availability is low. Hence, they need to conserve any moisture they get their hands on.

  • Since the stomata makes a plant lose water, cactus plant will have less stomata than a tropical plant.
