A. It doesn't really seem as though he is foreshadowing about any events...
B. Withholding information. This could be true. The author doesn't tell really what the atrocity was or why they are blushing, burning and shuddering.
C. Setting of the story. Doesn't fit. This text talks nothing of the setting or where they are.
D. Repletion of I. They do use the word "I" over and over but does this help develop the narrator's character?
