During the reign of George III, there was a great increase of taxes to the Colonies, a decision that affected much to the American settlers at the end of the war of seven years. When the British raised taxes in the 13 colonies, many settlers went bankrupt, because they could not afford to pay their houses, or hold their own businesses, which made them bankrupt, becoming a disaster for the American economy. In addition, in the colonies the production of the tea allowed the Americans to make a lot of money, but when raising the taxes, this change negatively. Thus, people full of debts and unable to take care of their daily expenses, were pressured to seek their independence and get rid of English taxes.
According to the declaration of independence Britain harmed the American economy by apply high taxes. The tax was used to pay British military troops stationed in post-War American colonies against France and India.
