The relationship between clownfish and sea anemone is considered mutualism because both species benefit from the association.

Clownfish are protected from predators by the stinging tentacles of the sea anemone, which are harmful to other fish but not to the clownfish due to a mucus layer on their skin. In return, clownfish provide the sea anemone with nutrients in the form of waste materials and also help to attract prey for the sea anemone to feed on. This mutually beneficial relationship enhances the survival and well-being of both species.
