Read the statement below. Which of the following accurately explains which leader during the Age of Exploration would have supported the statement?

"My kingdom will benefit greatly if we can be the first to discover a sea route between Europe and Asia. Even though it will be expensive, I'm willing to finance risky expeditions by explorers hoping to find such a route."

Respuesta :

Both the king of Spain and the king of Portugal

The Crown of Castille was a medieval state which ruled the current territory of Spain from 1230 to 1504.

This Crown, under the leadership of King Ferdinand, who was influenced by Queen Isabella, decided to fund Christopher Columbus expedition in the quest to find a pathway to Asia. Christopher Columbus had previously tried to lobbying with other kingdoms in order to o get funds without success until finally obtaining his goal with the Crown of Castille. The deal between the Crown and Columbus was formalized with the "Capitulations of Santa Fe" in 1492 and the expedition would depart during that same year.
