You started off right as the smaller lines are the 1/2's and the larger ones are the whole numbers.
Each larger line represents one block. The west would be counting from the left side, and the right side would be the east.
So all you have to do would be count the lines going either to the right or left, then mark the houses.
When it asks the distance between the houses, just add the distances together.
For example, the distance between Aakash's and Donnas house would be 12. (5 1/2 + 6 1/2) hope this helps! :)
