John Quincy Adams:
1st:
Southerners opposed John Adams because John Adams opposed slavery, meaning he didn't want slavery
2nd: Most of the Clay supporters switched their votes to John Adams which is why John Quincy Adams won by 1 vote margin
3rd: Clay was with John Quincy Adams because John accepted Clay's deal of having him as secretary of state, but Jackson didn't
