The answer is found by subtracting 6.75 from the final price which gives you 33.28 , then dividing that by 3.20 which gives you an answer of 10.4

First set set up an equation :
6.75+3.20x=40.03
Subtract:
6.75-6.75+3.20x=40.03-6.75
Divide
3.20x/3.20=33.283.20
x=10.4
The number of miles is 10.4
