The peritubular capillaries and vasa recta drain into the smallest of veins called the interlobular veins.
These veins draw blood from the cortex's capillary plexus, which is a source of venous blood, and they run parallel to the interlobular arteries. As already mentioned, the medulla's venous return passes through the arcuate veins on its way to the aorta. Blood is transported to the interlobar veins by the arcuate veins.
The vaginal and capsular veins, which correspond to the vaginal and capsular branches of the hepatic artery, are received by these branches. Thus, it will be clear that the interlobular plexus receives all of the blood that is transported to the liver by the portal vein and hepatic artery. Fine branches that converge from the lobule's circumference to its center and are joined by transverse branches carry blood into the lobule from this plexus. These tiny vessels' walls aren't complete, allowing the blood to come into contact with the liver cells directly. Cells that are disconnected and erratically branched make up the lining endothelium (stellate cells of Kupffer).
