A horizontal bar graph called a Gantt chart is used to graphically represent the tasks of a project on a timeline. These charts are made by project managers to estimate the time needed to complete a project. A Gantt chart lists all of the tasks that make up a project, along with their beginning and ending dates. Teams can better allocate resources and plan their work using Gantt charts. To keep an overview of their projects, project planners also use Gantt charts. They show, among other things, the relationship between milestones, dependent tasks, and task start and end dates. Henry Gantt (1861–1919), who created the chart between the years of 1910 and 2015, is honored by having his name attached to it.
