What was the sociopolitical situation in the United states like in the 1800s?

The sociopolitical differences that existed between the south and the North of the United states were as a result of the racial differences as well as political ideology of the time.

The differences were as follows:

  1. Slavery was almost universally prohibited in the North while the  South fully supported and practiced it.
  2. South focused on agriculture, while the North focused on industrialization.
  3. Politically, the North belonged to the Whig Party, while  the Southerners were mostly Democrats.

In conclusion, the differences between the North and the South in the 1800’s was as a result of ideologies and political leanings.
