Is Mandisa correct in saying that Mxolisi is a product of his own environment, in other
words that he is not responsible for his own actions?

He is not responsible for his own actions as one's actions are determine and perceived by the environment and the company a person keeps. The way a person is brought up and the circumstances in one's life have a direct impact on his/her behavior and way of thinking. One's attitude towards life is directly dependent on the surroundings and the environment that a person lives/grows up in. In the given scenario also Mxolisi's perception and thought process are not the result of his thoughts alone but a consequence of the environment and surroundings which have slowly imbibed in his mind and have become a part of his personality.
