Respuesta :

Mary hesitates to tell her sister about her good news, for fear of making her sad, as option B shows.

Why can Mary sadden her sister?

  • Because her sister just became a widow.
  • Because the sister is still in extreme mourning for her husband.
  • Because happy news can be disrespectful to her sister's suffering.

Mary and Margareth are sisters-in-law and the two see each other as sisters. The two lost their husbands at the same time and became widows, in addition to accompanying each other's grief. The death of her husband came as a huge shock to both of them, but Mary can get over it faster when she hears good news and finds ways to help people in need.

She wants to share the good news with Margareth who is sleeping, however, she knows that when Margareth wakes up, she will be thinking about death and grief and may be sad that Mary doesn't respect that. That's why she hesitates to wake her up.
