What are  text features?

Text features  can be described as the components of a story or article  which is not been included in the main body of text.

These usually entails the :

  • table of contents
  • index
  • glossary
  • headings
  • bold words
  • captions, and labeled diagrams.

The table of contents serves as the list that gives the content that would be found in the text in a short form.

The index can be found at the back-of-the-book and it serves as the list of words along with their page references which can direct the readers to the locations of the topics that the book have and this is usually in an alphabetical order of the list of topics.

The headings in the text helps to give a summary point about the the body of the text, the headings will give insight into what is expected in the text under it.

The bold words are used in calling the attention of the readers to important terms in the text.
