Blood usually passes through one network of capillaries but there are exceptions, notably the portal systems and anastomoses.

What are Capillaries?

They are referred to tiny blood vessels which connect the arteries and veins in the circulatory system.

Blood however don't pass through capillaries in portal systems and anastomoses thereby making it the most appropriate choice.
