The Stuart's move toward absolutism (the Stuart dynasty took over from Elizabeth as kings). 
Continuing and growing religious turmoil after Elizabeth between Presbyterians, the Scottish Kirk, Anglicans and surviving Catholics. 
The growing importance and growing wealth of the upper middle class that sat as the Commons in Parliament.
