1. SR has endpoint S(-2, 14) and R(3, -1). What is SR to the nearest tenth?

2. In Problem 3 on page 52 of your textbook, suppose you let V(4, -2) be (x1, y1) and U(-7, 5) be (x2, y2). Do you get the same result? Explain why or why not.

I was told to disregard problem 2

so, I would assume the problem is asking us to find the distance of the line segment SR

so
the distance between the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is

[tex] \sqrt{(x1-x2)^2+(y1-y2)^2} [/tex]

given

(-2,14) and (3,-1)

[tex] \sqrt{(-2-3)^2+(14-(-1))^2} [/tex]=
[tex] \sqrt{(-5)^2+(14+1)^2} [/tex]=
[tex] \sqrt{25+(15)^2} [/tex]=
[tex] \sqrt{25+225} [/tex]=
[tex] \sqrt{650} [/tex]=
