SO this can be explained w/ variables:
wilma = 4 + Betty
Barney = 8 + Wilma
Fred = baRney - 10
We need to find what F is with the only variable being B. (We need to find how many less cleats Fred has in relation to Betty) We can do this by excanging The names for what they are + a new name:
Fred = barney - 10
Fred = 8 + wilma - 10
Fred = 8 + 4 + betty - 10
Evaluate: Fred = betty + 2
