The Federal Reserve System or The Fed is the central bank of the United States whose main purpose is to promote and keep the economic prosperity of the U.S. It does so through several functions, one of them includes to serve, regulate and supervise financial institutions practices. Some of those institutions are banks, holding companies and their affiliates; and other entities, including nonbank financial companies that are determined by the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
