Electric Counterpoint is simply regarded as a minimalist composition. It was the work of the American composer, Steve Reich. The preforming forces in the first 42 seconds was Five guitars and one short repeated musical idea in canon.

Reich gave two versions of the piece where one is for electric guitar and tape and the other one is for an ensemble of guitars.
The third movement was put into the Edexcel GCSE Anthology of Music, in the second area of study.
