Bobby Constantino, thes author of “I Got Myself Arrested So I Could Look Inside the Justice System”, used a quote by Thomas Jefferson that he discovered outside of a New Yorkcourt in his 48thparagraph. The quote in question stated “Equal and exact justice to all men, of whatever state or persuasion”. This quote contributes to Constantino’s explanation of the justices ystem by showing how the justice system is supposed to provide the same services and consequences for everyone, no matter who they are. However, in Constantino’s article, he provides ways of how the N.Y.P.D failed to treat him equal to other people because of how he appeared as a white man in professional attire. One such incident would be when the author tagged a location in New York with spray-painted content aimed towards the police.
