Answer: As a young girl, Malala Yousafzai defied the Taliban in Pakistan and demanded that girls be allowed to receive an education. She was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in 2012 but survived.Malala's central message is that no matter what the obstacles — whether they be economic, cultural or social — everybody is entitled to a quality education as a human right. In the words of the young activist: “Education is education. Malala spoke up for a girl's right to education, even blogging about her experience living under the Taliban's conditions for the BBC. She later won Pakistan's first National Youth Peace Prize in 2011 for her efforts. With Malala's growing influence, she eventually became a target of the Taliban. Malala once said, “There's a moment when you have to choose whether to be silent and wait to get killed or to stand up. and get killed” " I chose to stand up." Malala's story is one of immense courage. She has continued to fight for what she knows to be right in the face adversity that many could scarcely imagine, and she stands up time and time again against fear and threats and violence.
