Further Explanation:

The entities in the Confederation like the states make up the whole government. They have all the powers. Initially, the United States had a Confederate form of government that was established by the Articles of Confederation. But when the USA's Constitution came into force the US became a federal form of government. The members of the confederation have the authority to secede from the union. But in Federation autonomy is granted to the sub-units and limited amount of independence is given to the central government.

The federal government have full sovereignty over the units. This form of government suits the nation which has high diversity, languages and ethnicities. Many countries have applied federalism like the USA. The concept like separation of powers and checks and balances are more prominent in a federal form of government. The Articles of Confederation was constituted on 1 March 1781 and this was the first Constitution of U.S. The replacement was done in 1787 with the name of “Constitutional Convention”.

The Constitution came into force in 1789 and all the articles were replaced. Since it had too many weaknesses. The first one is that it gave state government enormous powers, whereas the federal government was not given powers up to the level of state government. With these powers, the states started to misuse them like they starting making money of their own and does not follow laws made by the federal government, or any of the decisions of federal courts.
