Does the expression (x-6) have one or two factors? I thought it would be two becuase I was told to assume that there was a 1 before the quantity but when I put that into a quiz I got it wrong. How do I know when there is a 1 behind the quantity and when there is not.

Answer:

As I understand it (x+6) has just one factor

yes it's true that x is the same as 1x

but i think you should follow the same as prime descomposition I mean

(x-6) is the same as 1*(x-6) is the same as 1*1*(x+6) is the same as 1*1*1*(x+6) is the same as.... I think you get the idea
