The foundation point of the start of the age of Enlightenment is supposed to be founding of the Royal Society in London in 1662 which gave the scientists  sanction by the government to do their research in England.

Such was the influence of the thought of recent scientific discoveries at the time that it made all people living in the time curious propagating the ideas of reason and beauty floating around by the philosophers of the time.

Thus the two could not have happened without each other.
