Some of the functions of parenchymatous cells in plants are storage, photosynthesis, secretions, etc. The photosynthesizing parenchyma cells are mostly present in green leaves of plants and have green chloroplasts.  

Some of the parenchymatous cells also serve to store metabolites such as oil droplets, starch grain, water, salts, etc. The secretion of resins, tannin, hormones, nectar, and other substances is done by specialized parenchymatous cells.
