How can you tell that x and y are NOT directly proportional?
A) x is 0 when y is 0.
B) y is getting farther away from x.
C) x is increasing by the same amount.
D) y is increasing by different amounts.
Since y goes from 3 to 5, it goes up 2, but when it goes from 5 to 9, it goes up 4, making y go up by different amounts. Y should not be able to go up by different amounts if it was proportional, so D would be the answer. Hope this helps!
