Problem #1.

Find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

GCF = 3

Factor out the GCF. (Write the GCF first. Then, in parenthesis, divide each term by the GCF.)

3(3b^2/3 + -15b/3 - 18/3)

Simplify each term in parenthesis;

-3(b^2 - 5b - 6)

Factor b^2 - 5b - 6

-3(b - 6)(b + 1)

Problem #2.

Split the second term in 2k^2 + 3k - 35 into two terms

2k^2 + 10k - 7k - 35

Factor out common terms in the first two term, then in the last two terms;

2k(k + 5) - 7(k + 5)

Factor out the common term k + 5

(k + 5)(2k - 7)
