Explanation

The continuing survey of food intakes by individuals (CSFII) was a national survey conducted by USDA  on food intakes by persons. The CSFII is followed up by another survey called the Diet and Health Knowledge Survey(DHKS) as a telephone survey and together they provide data used in What We Eat in America. The data was first collected from kids through 9 years of age.

Nutrition, Family and consumer science (NFCS) is tasked with developing a regional food hub that coordinate supply and demand of local foods. The task force ensures schools are encouraged to procure sustainable local foods and provide students with higher quality lunches. In addition, it promotes and improve participation in the Food Stamp program.

National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is a program that involves studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and kids in the United States. The survey utilizes interviews and physical exams. Some of the data collected is on physical activities and fitness levels of children and adolescents.

What We Eat In America (WWEIA) is an interview on dietary intake that is conducted by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES).The interview is first conducted in-person and later via the telephone within 3 to 10 days. The participants are offered three-dimensional models and the USDA’S Food Model Booklet to make the estimations on food amounts.
