The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen is a human civil rights document written in cause of the French Revolution. Influenced by the doctrine of "natural right", the rights of man are held to be universal: valid at all times and in every place, pertaining to human nature itself. “Men are born and remain free and equal in rights”, which were specified as the rights of liberty, private property, the inviolability of the person, and resistance to oppression. In conclusion, the doctrine states that the power in a nation lies in the hands of equality and freedom of the people, rather than the government.
The document states that all people are entitled to equal treatment in matters of basic rights such as liberty, security, and resistance to oppression.
