Answer: Global oceanic conveyor belt refers to the continuous motion of the water in the ocean due to the variation of temperature and salinity condition. The hot less dense saline water gets heated up in the equatorial region and travels towards a higher latitude i.e to the poles. This water when reaches higher latitudes, gets mixed up with the polar water becoming more denser saline water and gets sink below the ocean and travels back towards the south of the equator. During this process the water loses its heat into the atmosphere. This constant motion of water in both the hemisphere is overall known as the global oceanic conveyor Belt.

             Due to the existence of Coriolis force and the rotation of earth from eastern to the western side, the ocean currents moves in a clockwise direction in the northern hemisphere and anticlockwise in the southern hemisphere.

             The path of this ocean current movement is directly related to the biodiversity of the ecosystem in ocean. Change in its path would lead to a different pressure, temperature scenerio, which could be catastrophic in nature. It will affect the lives existing in ocean and because of higher salinity some species might not be able to adopt that environment.
