They settled in what is curently Mexico, Florida and eventually Texas. When they arrrived to Mexico´s coast in the Gulf in 1519, they saw an opportunity to sieze land and resources. Every story about one civilization taking over another is about economics and culture (including religion). This latter process is called sincretism. That is why they settled in North America, and other regions in Central and South America.
