Isaac Newton made a great contribution to the Age of Enlightment which emphasized reason, individualism, and skepticism. He created a lot of philosophical foundations that men still use today such as Calculus, three laws of motion and the Universal Law of Gravitation.
These theories greatly helped prove other important theories to mankind like Heliocentrism, Earth model and planets orbiting the sun. Although these theories were very modern and often frowned upon by traditionalists, it served as a foundation and became the center of that prolific period.
