I don’t know what y is

Hi Bailey!
Okay, this stuff can get confusing. So, what you need to do is:
First, flip it around so x is on the other side, like this:
[tex] \frac{5}{8}y+\frac{4}{5}=x [/tex]
Then you subtract [tex] \frac{4}{5} from both sides, so it cancels out. Your equation should look like this:
\frac{5}{8}y=x-\frac{4}{5} [/tex]
Multiply both sides by 8, then divide by 5!
[tex] (8)\frac{5}{8}y=x-\frac{4}{5}(8)
\5y÷5=8x-\frac{32}{5}÷5
So, y=\frac{40x-32}{25}! [/tex]
