Competition is a relationship between organisms in which both organisms contend emulously for the same limited resource (such as food, water, habitat and mate) that is required for their growth, reproduction and survival. In this type of negative relationship, the organisms involved may be harmed. Competition that occurs between organisms of the same species is known as intraspecific competition, while the one that occur between organisms of different species is known as interspecific competition.
